Angkor Wat

Well, what can I say?

It is as stunning and impressive as everybody says.

My sister Fi and I hired bikes from our hostel in Siem Reap and cycled out to Angkor Wat at 5.30am. We had been aiming for the sunrise…but Fi got a little stuck on the toilet first thing which delayed us.

So we missed sunrise, but it didn’t matter. Instead we took our time, cycled slowly and stopped on the way to get an amazing breakfast of “Bai Sach Chrouk” (rice, pork, egg and pickled veg) from a little street stall on the side of the road.

We spent the day exploring the old temples, taking plenty of photographs, cycling around and stopping for coconuts on the way. It was an amazing day at well worth the $20 it costs to get in.

Cycling around Angkor Wat was also a good way to warm up for our upcoming cycle trip…
